The Denver Metro area is full of activities this coming weekend. Eat, Drink, Dance, Plunge, there is something for everybody!  First things first, don’t forget to make reservations for Denver’s restaurant week.  It starts this Friday, Feb. 24th – March 5th. There will be hundred’s of restaurants offering multi-course dinners at a very appetizing price, so you won’t want to miss it, check out some of the menus.

Speaking of local restaurants, a big shout out to three Colorado chefs and one restaurant who are in the running for the James Beard award.  This award is the Oscars for restaurants and chefs.  We have Boulder’s Frasca Food & Wine in the running for the national Outstanding Restaurant award.  The three local chefs in the running are:

  • Steven Redzikowski, Acorn, Denver
  • Alex Seidel, Mercantile, Denver
  • Eric Skokan, Black Cat, Boulder

Finalists in the competition will be announced March 17th, and the winners will be proclaimed on May 1st at the James Beard Awards Gala in Chicago.

Onto the line-up for some weekend events that you may want to check out. If you are in the mood for some dancing, swing dancing that is, then check out the Five Points Stomp on Saturday, Feb. 25th from 8:30pm-12:00 am @ The Savoy at Curtis Park.  They will be having free lessons, cocktails, a performance by Stefan & Bethany, two very well known lindy hoppers, as well as some great social dancing.  Tickets are $15.

The Cupid’s Undie Run will be happening this Saturday, Feb. 25th from 12-4pm starting at the McNichols building to 144 W. Colfax Ave.  This is a charity run that raises money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation and neurofibromatosis research.  Should you be unable to participate it will be a fun event to watch!

Another event going towards a great cause is the Denver Polar Plunge & 5K.  This is also on Saturday, Feb. 25th from 7:30 am- 2 pm @ the Denver Zoo.  Plunge into this new year by helping to raise money for the Special Olympics Colorado.  You can brave the cold water with the polar plunge, run around the zoo, or do both!  The run will start first, followed by the plunge afterward.

Whatever you choose to do, please make sure to share it with us!  In addition, if you know of an event please send us the info so we may help share and spread the word!
