Proposed Federal Budget Could Affect Down Payment Assistance

Congress will consider the new Federal budget in the next few weeks.  A 93% REDUCTION/CUT in the HOME Program is being considered as part of the current budget.  CHAC uses HOME funds for many of our down payment assistance loans.    A cut in HOME funding would seriously impact our ability to assist home buyers in the future.  We are asking you to contact your Senator and Congressman or Congresswoman to let them know about the benefits of HOME funding and its importance in our communities.   Links to the Colorado Senators and House Representatives are below.

The department maintains a recovery fund to make payments of certain actual out of pocket damages sustained by borrowers caused by acts of licensed residential mortgage loan originators. A written application for reimbursement from the recovery fund must be filed with and investigated by the department prior to the payment of a claim.
